Do you know?

Do you know that feeling?
That feeling you get when you just sent an SMS and you're left sitting anxiously.
In your chair, on the bus, in the toilet,
physically you are anywhere but mentally you are stuck at a crossroad
waiting and waiting and waiting
as your sweat starts to drip down your back and
you feel so cold as you stayed in your chair
doing nothing but just being there,
waiting for a hint, a signal, a call, a respond
but yet an hour passed.
No reply came
And yet you keep
waiting and waiting and waiting
like Vladimir and Estragon,
waiting endlessly and in vain for the arrival of Godot
and your palms are starting to sweat
you can feel your heart beat faster
as though a thousand hummingbirds are trapped in your diseased heart and
yet you keep
Waiting and waiting and waiting
you begin get a little more curious and a little more scared
while imagining the reaction of
the person who has yet to read your message.
Yet another hour has passed since the first
but you still cannot see that message-in-a-bottle
that you have waited so dutifully for and
your brain begins to come up with dastardly thoughts of what-ifs and maybes.
Your heart struggled to hold onto the last strand of hope
and yet you keep
waiting and waiting and waiting
like a mum waiting for a child to be born,
like a snake waiting for it’s prey
you want to desperately seize onto the last opportunity
that maybe someone out there still wants to look into your brain and
would understand you like you understand them
and so you keep
waiting and waiting and waiting
for that one reply that would save you from your own hell
because you have lost all capabilities of saving yourself from your own
and it is your last cry for help
even after the third hour has passed
you keep
waiting and waiting and waiting
till that one reply finally arrives.

“No.”
And you feel your world start to crash and burn,
but all you can reply to that was,
“Okay.”
